MAIN TRAILER
I worked with Jess Foster 1820, Ellie Smart 1859 and Millie Wyatt 1874.
We created a promotion package for a new film, which includes two trailers, together with an official social media page for the film and a poster for the film. We made the promo pack for a comedy crime film entitled DODGING A BULLET.
The synopses of our film is a comedy film with thriller characteristics. It is a story based around female criminals and the disasters they encounter while on a heist to steal a renound painting. It is not as easy as they expected as they stumble across a murder. Our film has 4 main characters who are women which is part of our unique selling point. It is aimed at young adults which may appeal more to women due to the female empowering element of our film. The big question is 'How will they escape the charges?' The criminals are all different in style and personality which gives the film some diversity.
I took responsibility for some of the camerawork, in particular, creating the establishing shots in the office of the manision using a Canon 650 D camera and a manfrotto tripod in order to film without having shaky shots. I would help set up the shots and direct the cast from behind the camera. We made sure to let everyone have an equal opportunity to use the camera and film different scenes. I took responsibility for the directing of the scenes in the office and those outside the window of the mansion. I had to set up the tripod and direct the cast to stand in the right spot, to make sure they would not be out of frame, and have the right perspective.
I took responsibility for helping the set design, and helping to control the lighting, I made suggestions about lighting which we implemented, in particular, the lighting in the scene of the phonecall, where I directed the actor to face the spotlight, with the camera behind to create rim lighting. This was so that the actors face would be hidden in the shadows of the darkness behind her, only highlighting parts of her head ans shoulders to create a mysterious and sinister effect.
We edited both our main trailer and our teaser trailer on Final Cut Pro and iMovie. Millie had the most experience in editing and so she took the main role in doing so in order for the editing process to go quicker and smoother. I was able to help by giving ideas in deciding what worked well, and what should be tweaked. As we needed many voice recordings and music overlapped onto our footage, I was able to help in recording them and chose the music for our trailer. The iMacs made placing the recordings on top of the footage easy, as I was able to send the music via AirDrop.
We all took responsibility for creating a social media account
to help market our film to our target audience. We chose Facebook, Twitter,
Instagram and TikTok as these were mainstream platforms which would reach our
target audience. I was in charge of creating the TikTok account (click here).
